JOLIET BECOMES "LITTLE MYKONOS"

According to local joliet historian Dr. Robert Sterling's research. George Policandriotes was the first "Mykoniati" to settle in Joliet. After that Joliet became a magnet for immigrants from Mykonos.The photo to the left is Dimitri Z Xaniotis - first of the Xaniotis family to arrive in Joliet.

This photograph was taken at Dellwood Park in Joliet around 1915.
