XANIOTIS Family on Mykonos

As Ioannis and Eleni Honiotes immigrated to Joliet, Illinois in 1914, most of the family stayed on Mykonos. A few came to the US in the early 1900's and returned.  Here is what I know so far:

My great grandfather Zouganes Vlahogiannakis Xaniotis and his wife Maroulo had 12 children. Their home in Ano Mera is seen in the background of this photo that I took in 1974 when I visited Mykonos with my parents.  Standing here is Giorgos K. Xaniotis - the son of Kosta Z. Xaniotis and grandson of Zouganes and Maroulo.

The following are he children of Zouganes and Maroulo Vlahogiannakis Xaniotis;

Ioannis (John) - (my grandfather) Born Feb 14, 1883. He and his wife Eleni Gripari-Xanioti had 8 children Anna , Zouganes (John), Andreas (Andy (my father),  Nikolas (Nick), Dimitris (Jim) Panayiotis (Pete), Vasilis (Bill), and Giorgos (George)

Dimitris - (born 1880) father of Maroulina Xanioti-Pfeiffer. He came to Joliet 1906 and stayed  about 20 years before returning to Mykonos.

Kostas - at least 3 sons Giorgos (pictured here with his wife Kaloutho in 1974 , Angelo (buried in Woodlawn Cemetery with his wife Matina: see headstone photo below) and Zouganes. Zouganes (Born 1886) came to the US in 1907 at age 21 and changed his name to George (possibly to sound more American?) His wife was Martha (Krause).   They operated a small grocery store in Wilmington, IL and later moved to Peoria, IL where Martha's family was from. Zouganes died in 1972.
